CSCI E-93: Application Note 5 How to run a serial port emulator --------------------------------- This note will detail how to run a serial port emulator using SecureCRT with the Tripp-Lite Keyspan USA-19HS High-Speed USB to Serial Adapter on a Windows PC. Download SecureCRT from Harvard at http://downloads.fas.harvard.edu/ and install it on your computer. Install the driver for the Tripp-Lite Keyspan USA-19HS and connect the USA-19HS to your computer. Note to which COM port the USA-19HS is connected. Run SecureCRT as Administrator. Click on New Session -- the third icon in the Connect window. Change the Protocol (from SSH2) to Serial. Click on Next. Select the COM port to which the USA-19HS is connected. Set the Baud rate to 9600. Set the Data bits to 8. Set the Parity to None. Set the Stop bits to 1. Ensure that none of the Flow Control check boxes are checked. Click on Next. Change the "Session name" to a name that you want to appear in the list of available connections. Click on Finish. Your configuration will be saved for future times you run SecureCRT.
